Gyms big and lots of machines probably one of the biggest collections, the pools great and they have a fantastic steam room and sauna combo, modern clean and well looked after. Staff are friendly and can always see someone cleaning or giving advise (team are on the ball). Only reason this isn’t a 5* review is the age of sometimes the majorly of the people there can be between 13-18yr old, this can sometimes give the place a “social club” feel with all the young team acting like kids in a place that’s for acting like an adult. Was a little shocked to hear staff say council let under 16s without being supervised by an adult asking as they complete a “introduction to lifting”, seems like an insurance thing but this is what leads to young team vibe.
I have no problem with Ainslie Park swimming pool. My review is concerning the lack of cleanliness in the pool changing rooms. They have to be the “ filthiest “ throughout Edinburgh Leisure venues. As a thrice a week user of three different EL pools I find Ainslie Park is a disgrace with no proper, or even surface, cleaning carried out from one week to the next. The most I have ever seen is a person slowly moving a rubber brush across small areas of floor tiles. The management are certainly not doing the job they are supposed to be doing and as a result this part of the Leisure Centre is being badly let down.
A few months ago I would’ve rated this gym highly: it used to be a warm, welcoming space with good gym equipment and where instructors were really helpful. Recently it’s become difficult to find any space to do free weights exercises safely with instructors complaining to other gym users about people taking up space in safe exercise spaces. I exercise in a walkway behind a treadmill and really don’t enjoy going there anymore. Will look to join Pure Gym near Ocean Terminal soon. Would now recommend to friends to go elsewhere which is a real shame.
Well equipped gym. Not too busy most times of the day however it can get over run with school kids between 3 and 5:30 pick your time wisely. There is 4 squat racks and 1 smith machine
Great facilities, I go there with my colleagues to gym, the staff are very friendly.
Great facilities in the gym, friendly staff, weekly passes available for unlimited access to all services at a reasonable price which is ideal for visitors like me!
I must say about Ms. Am**da. She is the best example of customer or front desk service. I got all information as I need. Though most of the information are available in website.
You can ask any question inside staff for anything. They are helpful.
We are enjoying while we are there.

The pool was really cold. Seemed like there was a bit too much going on in the pool, with lanes, swimming lessons and casual swim all happening at once. Receptionists were really polite and helpful.
I haven't been in the leisure centre, but the adjacent football ground is the home of Spartans FC who going by the atmosphere at the recent play off games I attended, will be an excellent addition to the SPFL.
